EDUCATOR EXPO 2012 REMINDER - PREPARATION AND INFORMATIONAL BROCHURE DOWNLOAD!

The beginning of the 2012-13 job search is upon us, and districts are preparing the budgets, extending contracts to returning staff, and working on staffing proposals for the next school year.

If you are currently in the hunt for a job, you should be researching districts and potential locations using the resources on this site. If you have not already, begin to correspond with the personnel office or recruiting teams at districts with openings. Watch the listings carefully. Openings can open and close quickly. If the districts you are most interested in are not responding when you call or email, be persistent, and stay positive.

Make sure to follow up directly with districts on jobs you have expressed an interest in through the Applitrack ATP Job Bank, as some districts prefer email, others prefer phone calls, and still others announce their jobs here, but have their own internal application processes. Make sure to carefully read the application instructions for each job posting.

The best way to interview for a number of jobs, and meet recruiters face-to-face is to sign up for one our ATP Job Fairs. The information is listed below, but reservations at the host hotels tend to fill up quickly. Reserve your hotel space now if you know you are attending. ATP's Live Chats and Virtual Job Fairs for the new hiring cycle will begin shortly, and you can watch this site for specific dates and times.

We look forward to an exciting new season, and wish all candidates well in their search!

ATP Live Chats & Virtual Job Fairs

In addition to our in-person events, ATP also hosts numerous Live Chats with special guests, as well as a few â??Virtual Job Fairsâ?? which allow candidates unable to make the trip to Alaska or Minnesota to still network with hiring officials and feel out job opportunities in more depth.

Many working relationships between educators and administrators have been forged during ATP Virtual Job Fairs and have even been known to lead to a job offer. ATP staff provide technical help online and via audio.

A new format allows us to provide live, online events in a much more interactive fashion than in the past, and will provide video segments, questions and answer sessions, and private messaging with specific district representatives. Watch this space for more information about 2011 Virtual Job Fairs and Upcoming Live Chats.

Upcoming Live Chats

The best way to keep informed of upcoming ATP Live Events is to join and participate in the ATP Forum:

» ATP Forum – Stay informed, search our forum database for answers to common questions about teaching in Alaska, or ask your own!

All Live Chats and Virtual Job fairs are held in our Live Chat Area from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM Alaska Time.

Online participation requires internet connectivity, and the interface is by live chat, streaming audio and video from us, and Private Messaging.

If you are seriously considering Alaska, we strongly suggest you visit the ATP Forum to post questions, learn more about Alaska, and meet other educators.

ATP Job Bank

The ATP Job Bank is your best bet for finding a teaching or school administration job in Alaska!

Those with resumes in the system will be automatically notified of openings that match their areas of interest. Districts with openings in your stated categories of interest are notified when you register. However, it is such a busy time of year that you will want to also make sure to actually apply on-line for specific openings!

Note: If you have a Spam filter that does not allow our messages to go through, you will be less likely to receive the information you need in a timely fashion. If you use Earthlink mail, Yahoo mail, AOL or another ISP that has filtering automatically in place, you must have us â??whitelistedâ?? in order to get job notifications, and school district messages.

iCommunity: ATP Forum

ATP iCommunity – The iCommunity area has numerous ways to interact with working Alaska educators, other job candidates, and both school district and government officials. This is the place to post general questions about teaching or living in Alaska. The extensive archives are fully searchable, and a tremendous resource for those considering relocating.
