Hello,

We get notices of articles about teachers and administrators in "hometown" papers and news websites all the time, so have decided to post them in here in a thread of their own. They really help give a sense of what adjustments teachers new to the state make, and how things are perceived back in the communities the rural Alaska staff come from. Feel free to add others you happen to find, or comment!

The first one is something we got today about the efforts of a principal with Iowa roots (Faith Jurs, Noorvik) to help make last spring's prom special:

Hello,

Here is another "Hometown News Article" on an Alaska teacher who is from Clarion University in Pennsylvania, and is having a very interesting experience working in the Lower Kuskokwim School District (LKSD) village of Kasigluk.

Please feel free to post ones you find in this thread. We love to read about people making the transition from the Lower 48 to rural Alaska!

John
