renewing certificate

This is the new version of the Alaska Teacher Placement (ATP) forum for teachers, education majors, and school administrators to discuss working and living in the state of Alaska. Those considering an Alaskan job, or considering a new Alaskan education job ask questions, and those with information and/or opinions provide answers. Although many users are teacher or principal candidates from the Lower 48, a large number of current and former school district HR and school administrators subscribe.

renewing certificate

Postby tnuts20 » Tue Apr 26, 2016 5:54 pm

This is my first year in Alaska. I had a temp certificate, and it expires the end of June. I took my two classes this semester, and I am scheduled to take the Praxis in May. Do I go ahead and fill out the application for a 2year initial certificate or do I apply for a regular certificate? Will I have enough time ? I was told if it isn't in by August I would be on sub pay .

In your case, I think it's best to contact Alaska EED and simply ask them. My understanding is that you have to have proof of all the requirements in hand before applying, but it's a valid question that Sondra and her staff would be the best source to answer. Please post what you find out!
