Are there options to teach online only (possible occasional travel to Alaska) for Math or Computer Science to Alaskan students?

Hi,

I've seen a handful of "virtual teaching" distance education jobs posted in the past, but it's not particularly common. Schools usually contract out for distance courses on an ad hoc basis, or buy packages of instruction for their K-12 students. So, the instructors are usually employees of the service provider (s) in question. There are exceptions, but it's a hit and miss thing. If you were able to find a job like that, though, you would still be required to be certified in Alaska in that subject in order to be the teacher of record.

There are some organizations in Alaska that hire distance learning staff. The teachers usually (but not always) Alaska residents.

Hope this helps.

Regards

John
